Bio 3D Printing

Our proprietary technology, “Bio 3D Printing,” is a novel technique that came about as a result of the fusion of biology and engineering through the revolutionary incorporation of engineering concepts in the field of biology. Cyfuse is working on technical innovations to promote practical application of 3D cellular products and to continue introducing new technical developments for medium and long-term corporate growth, leading to next-generation technical R&D.

Cyfuse Proprietary 3D Printing Technology

A Bio 3D Printer robot performs three-dimensional modeling by stacking multiple layers of cell clusters called “spheroids,” which are formed due to the inherent self-aggregating capacity possessed by cells, on needle arrays according to a 3D design read by dedicated software.
After the spheroids fuse together, they are removed from the needle arrays, creating a three-dimensional structure consisting solely of cells.
The structure is then completed in the form of tissue or an organ (3D cellular product) that is equipped with functions allowing it to be used in transplant and research applications.

STEP1
Spheroid fabrication and
layering

Three-dimensional (3D) shapes of the tissues and organs of interest were constructed by the 3D stacking of spheroids on “Kenzan” needles in the culture vessel.

STEP2
Fusion and three-dimensional structure

The stacked spheroids fuse with each other within a few days to form a single structure.

STEP3
3D cellular product
(tissue/organ)

Tissues made the 3D structures of these cells provide long-term safety and functionality during transplantation.
